The heart behind Abundant Home Health Care

When our parents needed care, we faced the same challenges many families do today. As working professionals with our own families, my sister Jeanne and I found ourselves navigating the complex world of home care while trying to honor our parents’ simple yet essential wishes:

“We want to stay in our home. We want to live with dignity. We want to maintain our independence.”

Simple requests that proved remarkably difficult to fulfill.

Despite promises from multiple agencies, we encountered a painful cycle of unreliability, disruption, and disappointment. Each morning brought new anxiety – would today’s caregiver show up? Would they treat our parents with the respect they deserved? Would we receive another call at work about another problem to solve?

Through this struggle, we learned the most valuable lesson of our lives: understanding what families truly need in a home care partner. It’s not just about scheduling and services – it’s about trust, dignity, and peace of mind.

Driven by our experience, we immersed ourselves in the world of elder care. We consulted with doctors, nurses, social workers, and life care advocates. We sat in on patient visits. We studied dementia care, fall prevention, and chronic condition management. But most importantly, we never forgot what it felt like to be the family members, anxiously hoping for better care for our loved ones.

In 2011, we founded Abundant Home Health Care with a clear mission: to provide the care we had desperately wanted for our own parents. Care guided by a simple but powerful philosophy:

This equation isn’t just business strategy – it’s personal. We lived the anxiety of inadequate care. We felt the relief when we finally found a caregiver who truly cared. Now, we dedicate ourselves to ensuring other families don’t have to endure that same journey of uncertainty.

Today, AHHC serves the greater Boston area from our Newton headquarters, but we never forget our beginnings. Every client we serve, every family we support, receives care built on this foundation of personal understanding. Because not so long ago, we were sitting where you are now – looking for someone we could trust with the care of our loved ones.
